Unlikely as it may seem, just a few years ago a national newspaper voted Caerfai as one of the world’s hundred best beaches. And it is a beauty – with clear jade green water lapping onto smooth golden sands; plus the steep, almost maroon coloured cliffs above the bay make it a real suntrap. It gets busy in summer but it doesn’t have all the tourist tat of Whitesands, and for swimmers the water is always warmer here. If you fancy staying a little longer, Caerfai Bay campsite is a stunning choice and offers some of most epic camping coastal views in the UK.
