Willow Tea Rooms

217 Sauchiehall Street Glasgow G2 3EX

Lurking amidst the crowded chaos of one of Glasgow’s main shopping streets lies this utter gem. These are no ordinary tea rooms as the interiors here were intricately carved by the genius of Glasgow’s very own Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Re-opened in 1983 this is one of the most fun places in the city to start the day with a hearty breakfast, to take a light lunch and, of course, to enjoy the decadence of afternoon tea, taken while the stressed shoppers hurry by outside. Perhaps what makes this oasis such fun is that it is bathed in artistic charm, but it is not museum piece, still a real working café much beloved of the locals.
