The Russian Tavern

As a yachtie stopping by Port Bannatyne marina for the night I was very surprised by finding an authentic Russian tavern in this small Scottish village. Run by Russians they serve Russian beer, wine, vodkas and freshly cooked dishes in very convivial surroundings with wooden tables and chairs, timber floor, open fireplace and candlelight. Fabulous views across the yacht bay watching the sun go down.We had the Russian version of spiced meatballs to start served with gherkins and salads, then onto real Goulash with hunks of spicy pork. Just great. There was seafood too, and all very well priced. Such a blessing to have escaped the usual factory food and chips served up in Scotland!
