Greenway Road Galmpton Devon TQ5 0ES 01803 842 382
Greenway was author Agatha Christie and her husband’s holiday home for over 20 years. The house dates back to 1493, but it has only recently been opened to visitors and is now presented much as it was in the 1950s, with many of the family’s collections of books, china, silverware and other memorabilia. The wild and romantic garden is stunning, with woodland rolling down the hillside towards the beautiful Dart Estuary. There’s a licensed café and a shop selling Agatha Christie books, local crafts, and plants. By far the best way to arrive is to take the Greenway ferry from Dartmouth or the ferry from Dittisham (just ring the bell on the quay). If coming by car, you have to pre-book parking.
Have always been a Christie fan (have ALL her novels) and LOVED nosing into her Devon home, which is absolutely rammed with stuff. Recommend walking here from Dartmouth - about 4 miles through forest. along estuary; you can then get the ferry back, or take the boat over to Dittisham and walk back. The campsite at nearby Galmpton is lovely too.
