Great value for city-break visitors and families in the north's most historic city.
Water End Clifton York North Yorkshire YO30 6LP 0800 019 1700
It's in a great location for a start – a 15-minute riverside walk from the city centre, which puts just enough distance between you and the tourist hordes at the end of the day (or it's 5 minutes on the bus). There are over 200 beds across 45 rooms, and 32 of these are en-suite so you don't have to share facilities unless you're really looking to save money. There's free wifi in the hostel's public areas, and a 24-hour cafe-bar serving food at lunchtime and in the evening; they also do great breakfasts.
Like a lot of YHA hostels it's perfect for families, with large rooms that accommodate a family of four comfortably, and of course they have the regular backpacker beds too, in dorms that are clean and secure. There's also a self-catering kitchen and bike store. Finally, the staff are professional and ultra-welcoming. Great value all round – one of our fave places to stay in York.
Around every corner something new can be found in the historical city of York. From the Romans to the Vikings, York has a rich history showcased through fantastic attractions. After a busy day exploring the Jorvik Viking Centre, or taking a bus tour around the city, relax in our licensed restaurant with a delicious meal or sit back with a drink in our new cafe-bar with garden views.
Our newly-refurbished hostel offers clean, modern accommodation only a stone's throw from the city centre. Now with 32 rooms with en-suites, YHA York is an ideal base for a weekend escape, family getaway or just a bed for a night.
YHA York now offers state-of-the-art seminar and education facilities, making it the perfect fit for your school trip or business conference. We offer a range of team-building activities suitable for both and we have three dedicated conferencing suites/event spaces with state of the art AV equipment.
