We reckon there are few nicer parts of the country to stay in than the region around the North Yorkshire town of Richmond – and few more appealing towns than Richmond itself.  So when someone told us about the a bunch of log cabins a mile or so outside, we thought we'd take a look. We weren't disappointed: the Scandinavian pine lodges at Flowery Dell are comfortable in the extreme – double-storey in some cases, with well-appointed accommodation for between 2 and 6 people on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The natural wood throughout works wonderfully well, and they are thoroughly Scandinavian too in the sense that they are equipped with saunas and in some cases hot tubs. Rowan Lodge in particular (sleeps 2–4) is perfect for a romantic break in the country. It comes with a luxury kingsize room with its own en-suite plus a twin room, a 4-person American therapy style hot tub on the balcony, a gas barbecue, a wood burning stove (logs and firelighters available as an extra) and a beautifully equipped kitchen and a sitting room with 40-inch flat screen TV that you can enjoy from the comfort of your soft leather Italian sofa. Most essentials are included, including wifi and a welcome starter pack of goodies so you can relax with a coffee while you're unpacking.
