Often bypassed in favour of pubs in the Jewellery Quarter, the Actress & Bishop is a bit of a hidden gem. Located just behind St. Paul's Square, this pub boasts much of the charm of its affluent Jewellery Quarter neighbours in so much as its decor is all dark wood paneling and exposed brick. However, with gigs every night of the week the focus here is very much on live music, making it the go-to place for indie/rock gigs in this area of the city. Those who have their interest piqued with morbid history may be intrigued to know that this was also where the last public hanging in Birmingham took place.
