The Fourteas is a period themed tea room run by a husband and wife team, previously stage managers at the RSC, and their theatrical background is apparent in this 1940s-themed tearoom – from the waiting staff costumes to the ration book menus. There are no mugs or teabags here – just loose leaf tea is served in cups and saucers – and all cakes and light meals are all freshly prepared on the premises. Even the staff are friendly. It’s original, it’s quirky and will take you right back to having tea at your grandma's.
What a fantastic little 40s-themed cafe. I can definitely recommend the Ivor Novello afternoon tea for two. And they even give you a doggybag to take home the cakes you couldn't manage to eat - except it's not actually a doggybag, it's a sweet little gasmask cardboard box tied up with string.
