A peaceful, ultra-rural B&B for two – in a Gypsy Caravan!

Gypsy Hollow B&B

Valley Farm Hoggs Lane Westhall Suffolk IP19 8RN 01986 780 995

We say

Philip Westwood-Deamer and his wife are lucky enough to occupy a lovely spread in the north Suffolk countryside, and one day they had the bright idea to purchase this very romantic original bow top Gypsy Caravan, which they now rent out as unique B&B accommodation. Situated in a quiet corner of the garden near a pond, where big skies and constant bird song provide a perfect backdrop for a couple looking for somewhere to be alone and unwind, it's a perfect place to enjoy what is by any standards a beautiful and very peaceful part of the country. It's also one of two accommodation options here – supplemented by a great retro 1970s caravan that is available for a spot of glamping.

The gypsy wagon has a double bed, lots of storage, an original 'Queenie' stove to keep you warm and cosy, a small kitchen with Belfast sink and fridge, and a luxury private bathroom, equipped with a selection of designer bath products and steam crystals and a whirlpool bath and a shower. If you find the caravan a bit of a squeeze you can sleep in the Summerhouse outside, which is part of the same complex. All bed linen is provided and accommodation is on a B&B basis if you want it, with a sumptuous breakfast served each morning using their own rare breed pork and fresh eggs. They also have lots of great produce for you to cook on your open fire or barbecue (they can also provide firewood), and offer afternoon tea, homemade cakes and sandwiches on request. There's loads to see and do in the surrounding area, but to be honest you may just want to chill out at the site, or opt for one of Philip's horse and trap rides around the surrounding country lanes. It's the perfect country escape.
