Stay Craster

Craster Northumberland NE66 3TR 01665 576 461

We say

Two former fishermen's cottages overlooking the harbour at tiny Craster provide a welcome contemporary holiday base in one of Northumberland's most traditional coastal villages. Under the handle 'Stay Craster', both 'Driftwood' (2 bedrooms, sleeps 4–6) and 'Harbourway' (4 bedrooms, sleeps 8) cottages have been thoroughly refurbished in a welcoming modern style, from downstairs woodburners and up-to-date kitchens to pale, seaside-chic bedrooms. Driftwood is cute and cosy, great for a couple wanting a coastal escape. Harbourway is altogether more spacious, with a conservatory and decked terrace, bigger kitchen, and beamed dining room and lounge. We particularly love the original stone open fireplaces. There's space for outdoor dining and barbecues at both cottages, and views of Craster's harbour which lies a minute's walk away – the Jolly Fisherman pub, which operates both cottages, is the obvious place to slip out to for seafood meals and drinks in their beer garden.
