If you like Scarborough's Green Room Restaurant – and if you don't, why not? – then nip up the road during the day and try out chef Rob Porter's new deli. It's small but perfectly formed, championing local suppliers and artisan producers, which means homebaked bread every morning, plus cheese, chocolate, relishes, sauces, smoked fish and cured meats from outfits up and down the local coast and around North Yorkshire. There's an interesting and affordable wine selection too, with some of the bottles familiar if you've eaten in the restaurant. It's early days yet for the deli, but the signs are promising, and it's another foodie address in the Victoria Road/Hanover Road axis that's fast becoming Scarborough's best place to buy food and eat out.
