From their workshop and studio in hideaway Rosedale Abbey, glassmaker Stephen Gillies and his artist partner Kate Jones produce stunning hand-crafted, hand-decorated glass bowls and blown-glass vessels – starting from around sixty quid for something that will look rather beautiful in your house. The studio is open for visits – it's under half an hour from Pickering or Helmsley – where you'll be able to chat to the artists and see examples of their latest work. They call their bowls "defiantly decorative", which is a pretty apt description of work that draws heavily on the dramatic beauty of their moorland surroundings.
