Just a couple of years ago this Broads landmark was down on its luck, and presented a sorry spectacle to the thirsty sailors who chose to use the free moorings here on Hickling Broad. Not any more: it's been reopened and revitalised by John Uff and his team and it once again serves a well-chosen and well-cooked array of pub classics once again to the hungry masses. It makes the most of its lovely spot at the end of the dyke, and there's nothing better than sitting outside cradling a pint of Wherry while watching the boaty activity going on all around as the sun goes down. A good choice of local ales, too, from small brewers like Humpty Dumpty and Tipples in Acle; and they also host regular live music and open mic nights. Nice pub in a great location.
