Now part of a chain with branches in posher locations like Maida Vale, Thai Rice serves excellent Thai food at the scruffy far end of Portobello Road, long after most tourists have given up on Notting Hill and turned back. There's a good range of traditional staples like tom yum and kung pao chicken, so there's no excuse not to branch out from that pad thai and try something more adventurous – just watch out for the green chillis! The good news is you'll find many Thais, notoriously fussy about their food, happily eating here too.
