Part of the Malmaison UK group, the London Mal is typical of this boutique hotel chain, which has a reputation for great contemporary design, excellent wines and in-house brasserie dining – not to mention stylish guest rooms and free wi-fi. The hotel is located in a handsome red-brick Victorian building on a quiet and peaceful square, with a tree-lined park and a cobbled courtyard outside. It's also within walking distance of the West End and the City, plus close to lots of good places to eat and drink in trendy Clerkenwell. Rooms have Egyptian cotton duvets and plenty of luxury toiletries, and the Square Suite’s huge square teak bath, which fills from above like rain, is a perfect place to watch TV while lounging in bubbles.
