12 High Street Blackpool FY1 2BL 01253 314 752
A standard-bearer for the LGBT tourist in Blackpool, Keith and Tony's Pride Lodge makes a great base, right in the heart of the town's gay scene – Funny Girls is just up the road (guests get free tickets), with plenty of other bars and clubs just a short walk away. Handsome, colour-coordinated rooms with king-sized beds are standard, as are nice little extras, from iPod docks in the rooms to robes and slippers, and glasses and ice on request. Breakfast is extra, but isn't expensive and is delivered to your room, and there's no nonsense about rules or restrictions – the clientele is used to partying until late and getting up even later. It's a typical Blackpool townhouse, but they've managed to fit in everything in quite nicely – even to the extent of a cosy spa in the courtyard at the back, which you can book for your own private use together with a bottle of wine. Guests return regularly, knowing there'll be no families, children or stag parties to bother them – this is very much a gay-owned, gay-oriented B&B, rather than merely gay-friendly, with a stack of awards to prove that they are doing everything right.
