Saxon Shore Way
Along the coast
Once you’ve wandered round the town, the obvious walk from Whitstable is along the coast. In either direction, this will take you on to the Saxon Shore Way. East, it heads to Herne Bay and Reculver past Tankerton Slopes, a busy area with several cafés and often a funfair or fête. To the west, past Seasalter, is rather more empty; in this direction the path runs a little way above the coast, but you can easily follow the beach and rejoin it further on. When the beaches start bustling this is a nice stroll to take and following the waterfront it is as easier walk as you could get. Especially nice on a clear evening for brilliant views of the sun setting up river.
