A self-catering barn conversion, spa and yoga retreat offering rural peace and charm, and just a short trip from London.
Green Farm Barn, Duck Lane, Shadoxhurst TN26 1LT 01233 733 997
Situated deep in the Kent countryside, there's nowhere else quite like Green Farm, a self-contained and very comfortable barn conversion surrounded by 12,500 acres of ancient woodland and traditional pastures, and with a unique spa and yoga retreat attached. What's more, the fast train from London to the nearest station takes only 40 minutes!
There are of course the obvious attractions of hiking and
cycling in its private woodlands, not to mention getting to know the animals on
what is a genuine working farm, but what really sets Green Farm apart is its unique spa, which offers the chance to really relax and unwind in these beautiful surroundings. The facilities are excellent, with a sauna and a six-person outdoor
hot tub and treatment rooms offering everything from deep tissue and hot stone massages to detox wraps and pre- and post-natal treatments. They also offer regular yoga and fitness classes, art or garden flower workshops
can be arranged, and to be honest it's a wonderful spot for all these activities – and more. Rolling farmland spreads down to Romney Marsh
and the sea, and there are endless opportunities to go exploring beyond the farm; nearby
attractions include the famous gardens of Sissinghurst and Biddenden Vineyard, plus there are plenty of great local village pubs.
Whether or not you're taking advantage of the spa and yoga, the accommodation is lovely, in a beautifully refurbished nineteenth-century barn which includes two double bedrooms with super-king-size beds and and two triple bedrooms, and three bathrooms. The kitchen is modern and very well fitted out, with two dishwashers and a large American fridge/freezer, and there's a spacious and super-comfortable living room with a large flatscreen TV, DVD player and music system. There's extra capacity, too, in the converted cow shed next door, which has one double bedroom and its own kitchen and living room.
All in all, Green Farm is an amazingly tranquil spot in the Garden of England, with amazing facilities and access to beautiful countryside. It's particularly suited to large groups and families – and perhaps the best thing of all is that it's only a stone's throw from the hurly-burly of London!
Come to Green Farm to relax, unwind, enjoy the nature, exercise outdoors, walk in the woods, wander on the farm, stroke the animals, visit the local pubs, explore the nearby gardens and see this beautiful part of Kent.

One of the nice things about Green Farm is that it's a 10-minute taxi journey from Ashford International Station, reachable by high speed train from London St Pancras in just 37 minutes (or about 75 minutes from Charing Cross), so it's an excellent idea to leave the car at home. By car, it's equally easy though: leave the M20 at J9 or J10 of the M20 and follow the signs for Shadoxhurst. From Church Lane take the first right into Duck Lane. Go past the gate into Green Farm on your left and the entrance into the courtyard of Green Farm Barn is immediately beyond the barn itself.
Available all year.
