This seventeenth-century thatched pub has what is surely the largest pub garden around, plus a cosy interior, award-winning cask ales and a menu which strays far from the usual safe pub grub options. Dishes include oxtail and Dorset snail pie, crispy duck and faggots. if none of that appeals, there are also plenty of the usual pub favourites too, and you can eat inside, in the patio garden or on the field-sized lawn area which overlooks grazing pony fields. It's the sort of pub which has parking not only for cars and bikes, but also for horses and there's also an adjacent patanque court. So that's most bases covered for a fine day or night out.
