Award-winning family-run café, serving tasty homemade food, using primarily local, seasonal free-range and organic produce. It’s particularly good for vegetarians, with a decent range of meat-free main courses – lentil lasagne, pad thai samosas – as well as fresh, filling soups, and tasty quiches, salads and sandwiches. On the first Sunday of every month, they do a Sunday roast, with three meat choices, all from local farms, and three vegetarian choices (think sage derby cheese and parsnip roulade), followed by a choice of puddings. Just about everything is made on site, right down to the biscotti biscuits served with coffee – and there’s a pretty little courtyard garden out the back.
