The main cultural hub for Kendal and the south Lakes is the excellent Brewery Arts Centre, which combines a cinema, theatre, live music and festival events with the thriving Vats Bar and Grain Store restaurant, as well as the cool Warehouse coffee lounge-cum-digital cinema. There’s always something good on, from stand-up comedy to a folk roots gig – summer Sundays see outdoor live music, while the annual mountain film festival is a Lake District highlight. You can also expect big events and one-off shows during 2012, the centre’s 40th anniversary year.
