Bristol Zoo is a great family attraction, with lions, gorillas, monkeys and more, as well as plenty of green space and Zooropia – an adventure rope-trail course running through it. Best of all for families with little kids is Explorer’s Creek, and the hidden tropical birdhouse where you can hand-feed lorikeets. There are regular talks by the keepers, and displays of the zoo from years gone by show how much it has changed – you used to be able to take rides on the elephant, for example. A new zoo-safari annex will be opening near Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts of Bristol in the near future.
