If you’re arriving by train from Slough, Windsor’s centerpiece shopping area is the first thing you’ll see – more than 40 shops and restaurants occupy the area in and around the grand Victorian station. At its heart is the old booking hall: now half-tourist information office, half-Cinnamon Café (a reliable pit stop any time of day). Elsewhere, high street fashion outlets (Whistles, Hobbs, Phase Eight) jostle with gift shops (Oliver Bonas, Links of London), coffee chains and restaurants (Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Carluccio’s). Cobbled arcades, vaulted ceilings and period street furniture make for an atmospheric dose of retail therapy.
