Lamb & Flag

33 Rose Street Covent Garden London WC2E 9EB

Generations of Londoners who really should have been getting home have been lured off Covent Garden’s busy boulevards by a glimpse of the Lamb & Flag, beckoning enticingly from its little backstreet alley. First licensed in 1623, and frequented by literary types from John Dryden to Charles Dickens, it’s everything a London boozer should be, with its gleaming bar and dark-wood floors, a blazing fire for winter nights and pavement space for summer evenings. New owners Fuller’s offer their range of real ales, such as London Pride, and they also serve sandwiches and snacks, plus larger meals upstairs.
